Rolling Thunder

The centerpiece of this boxed set, Rolling Thunder is an original documentary tracing the Roller Derby story back to the Great Depression with rare and never-before-seen historic footage, and candid revealing interviews with Derby promoter Jerry Seltzer, trackside announcer Don Drewry, veteran skaters like Larry Smith and Francine Cochu and many others. There’s rare footage and stunning tributes to the legends of the game like Charlie O’Connell, Mike Gammon, Ann Calvello, Joan Weston and more. Framing the memories is a look at the current efforts to bring the San Francisco Bay Bombers back to old Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco. Almost an hour in length Rolling Thunder includes some rare and lost footage of Derby inventor of Leo Seltzer and this amazing documentary can be found in Disc One

Derby

In the 1971 Jerry Seltzer commissioned a feature length documentary following his skating troops and a wannabe during a typical Roller Derby season. What was designed as a promotional film became something of a rep house hit. Its inclusion here is courtesy of Jerry Seltzer. Derby can also be found on Disk One
